Kobe Bryant out for rest of season

LA Lakers star Kobe Bryant will miss the remainder of the season according to ESPN'S Chris Broussard.

Kobe only played in 6 games this season after returning from achilles injury that made him miss a large portion of last season . Bryant has been out since Dec 17 with fractured lateral tibial plateau in his knee .

The Lakers signed Kobe to a two extension earlier in the season for $48.5 million .

Phil Jackson expected to finalize deal this week

ESPN is reporting that Phil Jackson is expecting finalize a deal this week ,according to the article the source goes on to say

"Everything is pretty much done," . "There are just some little things here and there that need to be worked out, but the Knicks are very confident that this is essentially done.

This report comes after some skepticism on whether in the Knicks job was ploy by Phil Jackson to get a better NBA job elsewhere after Yahoo NBA writer found conflicting sources saying deal "wasnt close" .

As I reported in column, still no assurance an agreement will be reached. No one in Jackson's world thinks deal is "close," that's for sure.

Texans cut TE Owen Daniels

The Houstons Texans have waived tight end Owen Daniels.

Cutting Daniels saves the the Texans $4.5 million in salary cap space next season .

Daniels suffered a frectured tibia last season and was put on injured resever in October and did not return for the rest of the season .

Daniels is expected to generate alot of interest in free agency .
