Tim Tebow reportedly cut by New England Patriots

Backup quarterback Tim Tebow was released by the New England Patriots Saturday, after failing to make the final roster for the new season, according to NFL.com.

NFL teams have until 6 p.m. ET Saturday to reduce their rosters to a maximum of 53 players, before the season kicks off Thursday. Tebow, who was signed to the Patriots in June, made the final 75 earlier in the week but lost out in the final cut.

Critics have said the 26-year-old doesn't throw well enough to be an NFL quarterback.

In three NFL seasons, Tebow, who was waived by the New York Jets in April, has played 35 games and completed 48% of his passes. The 26-year-old previously played for the Denver Broncos, who drafted Tebow in the first round in 2010.

NFL to settle concussion lawsuits with players for $765 million

The NFL and more than 4,500 former players want to resolve concussion-related lawsuits with a $765 million settlement that would fund medical exams, concussion-related compensation and medical research, a federal judge said Thursday.

The plaintiffs include at least 10 members of the Pro Football Hall of Fame, including former Dallas Cowboys running back Tony Dorsett. They also include Super Bowl-winning quarterback Jim McMahon and the family of Pro Bowl linebacker Junior Seau, who committed suicide last year.

Many former players with neurological conditions believe their problems stem from on-field concussions. The lawsuits accused the league of hiding known risks of concussions for decades to return players to games and protect its image.

The NFL has denied any wrongdoing and has insisted that safety has always been a top priority.

Senior U.S. District Judge Anita Brody in Philadelphia announced the proposed settlement Thursday after months of court-ordered mediation. She still must approve it at a later date.

The settlement likely means the NFL won't have to disclose internal files about what it knew, when, about concussion-linked brain problems. Lawyers had been eager to learn, for instance, about the workings of the league's Mild Traumatic Brain Injury Committee, which was led for more than a decade by a rheumatologist.

Arrest warrant issued for Titus Young , after he skipped court

A California judge issued an arrest warrant on Tuesday for Titus Young after the former Detroit Lions wide receiver missed a fourth court hearing on an 11-count criminal case.

However, Young's attorney Altus Hudson said he doesn't expect his client to be arrested, saying the court knows his location. He declined to elaborate outside court.

Orange County Superior Court Judge Andre Manssourian issued the $100,000 bench warrant after meeting with Hudson and the district attorney's office in chambers. The judge also revoked Young's bail and accepted a document from the defense under seal.

Young, 24, has failed to appear at several court hearings, including one on Aug. 6, when the judge ordered him to be in court Tuesday.

Hudson said the judge issued the warrant as a way to keep tabs on Young. Hudson previously said his client was in treatment for an undisclosed condition.

He has pleaded not guilty to four felonies and seven misdemeanors after being arrested outside a home in San Clemente on May 10.

The arrest came after a string of erratic behavior that began five days earlier in neighboring Riverside County. He was arrested there for suspicion of driving under the influence and arrested again 15 hours later after authorities said he was caught trying to retrieve his car from a tow yard in Moreno Valley, east of Los Angeles.

Johnny Manziel met with NCAA for six hours denying allegations of wrongdoing

Johnny Manziel met with NCAA investigators for six hours on Sunday, according to ESPN.com, and now the NCAA is ready for their recommendation on whether Manziel should suit up for A&M s in their season opener against Rice. That recommendation is expected on Wednesday, per Sports Talk 610 in Houston, who cites a Texas A&M source.

The NCAA is concerned with Manziel's involvement with autograph brokers who have claimed that Manziel signed more than 4,000 items in exchange for payment, which is a violation of the NCAA's amateurism rules. According to sources , Manziel denied accepting those payments during the Sunday meeting.

NCAA's ruling will not determin eligibily , but only a recommendation , but ignoring the NCAA's advice about sitting Manziel could endangerTexas A&M's season as it begins if this situation worsens.

As of now Texas A&M named Manziel is still the starting Quarterback for the Aggies , we will see if that will change on Wednesday .
